Art on Every Corner
One of the charms of Lima is its active cultural life, which exposes the traveler to an artistic and contemporary facet of the capital.
Urban Culture
San Isidro is so much more than the financial hub and one of the main gastronomic corridors of Lima. This neighborhood, where the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center is located, is also one of the most interesting epicenters for artistic life. For instance, it has outstanding galleries with decades of experience, which showcase some of the best contemporary artists: Enlace, La Galería and Índigo are examples of this.
Here you will find the PUCP Cultural Center, with its consistent line-up of movies, dance and theater, art exhibitions on its second floor, a pleasant cafeteria and a bookstore and art and design objects store. Nearby, on the same avenue, is the new NOS PUCP Convention Center, which has opened its own theater. In the El Olivar forest, which in itself is a beautiful walk among centenary trees and old mansions, we find the Cultural Center of the Municipality of San Isidro, as well as the Casa Museo of the sculptor Marina Núñez del Prado. Finally, two bookstores stand out as ideal places to browse and find publishing gems and gifts: SUR and Book Vivant, the latter of which organizes readings and wine tastings.
Miraflores is a neighborhood adjacent to San Isidro, which is also characterized by its strategic location, as well as for being one of the most varied in terms of commercial, culinary and entertainment offerings. It is here where the AC Lima Miraflores and Aloft Lima Miraflores hotels are located, attracted by the proximity to the sea, the beautiful walkable streets and the dynamism of the area. Some of the nearby options to appreciate contemporary Peruvian art are the galleries Forum, Del Paseo, which is in front of the Huaca Pucllana, a great pre-Hispanic attraction in Miraflores, and ICPNA, an important institution that also has a theater, as well as the La Plaza theater in Larcomar. Visiting the personal workshop of an artist will always be an invaluable opportunity, and here it can be done thanks to the places of sculptor Marcelo Wong and painter Fito Espinosa, renowned Peruvian artists and great neighbors of Miraflores.
